Frog Power Model Plans

Zephyr

I thought it was about time I added a power model or two to the site, so to start off here is the Zephyr, a "near scale" 33" span high wing cabin model designed for the Frog 50 diesel. I'm not sure of the exact date of the design, but the Frog 50 went on sale around 1952, and the zephyr was not listed in the 1956 or 1960 kit catalogues, so it probably only had a few years on sale in the early 1950's.

Here are some photos of a kit that was put up for sale on Ebay - quite a rare item.

I'm only putting a full size pdf of the plan for download because the latest version of Acrobat Reader (Version X) has a tiling function built in - just specify your paper size and it will print full size on as many sheets as necessary. Thanks to Steve from Outerzone for digitally cleaning up this and the Vixen plan below.

George Stringwell built a Zephyr 50 years ago and lost it in a thermal with his cherished Frog 50 motor. This time he opted for rudder/elevator R/C and a 40 watt electric motor. He says it flies beautifully for 12 - 20 minutes on a little 450 2S lipo cell.

Vixen

Here is another semi-scale power model - the 36 inch span Vixen from 1950. It was designed to suit the Frog 100, but would suit a variety of small Diesels.

The plan is provided as a full single sheet that can be printed tiled using Acrobat Reader X or later.

Frog 45 Mk.II

One of the classic Frog power models - this plan is for the Mk.II version from 1953. Wingspan is 45" and the model is designed to be powered by the Frog 150 diesel.

The plan is provided as a full single sheet that can be printed tiled using Acrobat Reader X or later. Thanks to Steve from Outerzone for digitally cleaning up the pdf.
